Chinese New Year
Considering that Guild Wars is owned by a Korean company and it has lots of Korean, Taiwanese and Japanese players, why was there no special event for Chinese New Year and other Asian festivals?

1) Taiwan, Japan, and Korea are not China, and any Japanese, Korean, or especially Taiwanese person would probably kill you on the spot for even thinking of that >_> (Some REAL hostile feelings there...Taiwan doesn't even want to be mentioned in the same sentence as China).
2) Only the Major holidays that span across the countries are covered. |

The Taiwanese, Koreans and Japanese follow the Chinese calendar. So I guess I am allowed to live.

Chinese new year was fun, i got like..a hundred dollars..and it's not really "Chinese" New year, instead it's the beginning of the Lunar Year, but who really uses that anymore..

True but Anet (not NCSoft) was from ex-Blizzard employee's. Not sure how many other area's celebrate Halloween or something else in the world at the same time.
FFXI tends to be more Japanese holdiay (where Square-Enix HQ is) heavy but also makes the same "multi-fuction" holidays to cover several things. I went with some friends to a nice martial arts demo at a nice chinese place to kick of the the chinese new year Oh and the Japanese GW site rocks compared to ours and there selling it as a RPG & PvP Game. |

Therefore it is now wrong to group Taiwan with China as a whole unless you are quite narrow minded. It's like saying Lebanon and Saudi Arabia being the same countries due to both speaking Arabic for example. |

Good points all but I think you'll find the Taiwanese celebrate the lunar new year along with many in singapore and malaysia.
